Palestine ready to welcome activists

Participants from Europe, North America, Australia and Turkey are ready to travel to Palestine via the Lod airport and Jordan to participate in a week-long event to express solidarity with the Palestinian people, Press TV reported.

Visitors will be hosted by popular committees across the occupied Palestinian territories and will participate in a number of activities like building a school in Bethlehem, repairing damaged wells and planting trees in the village of Beit Omar.

Organizers and visitors believe this collective action will eventually reverse injustice and create peace.

“It is our right to welcome visitors and international activists from all over the world to work with us for the sake of peace and justice,” said Bethlehem mayor Victor Batarse.

We would like to “share our experiences with them and to show them our daily lives, our traditions, our culture and our struggle,” he added.

In the previous campaign, held in July 2011, Israelis sent a black list of about 342 would-be visitors to European airports.

The visitors were not allowed to board their flights and some were arrested at the Lod airport and held several days before being sent back.
