Palestinian journalist Dalia Nammari from the occupied city of Jerusalem yesterday announced her engagement to Tamer Rimawi, a Palestinian prisoner who is sentenced to three life sentences by Israel.
Nammari, who works as a correspondent for Russia Today, made the announcement on social media and hoped for his immediate release and the release of all Palestinian prisoners detained by Israel.
Shortly after the announcement, scores of users described Nammari’s decision as a brave sacrifice that Palestinian women are often forced to make.
Rimawi was a prominent leader in the Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, the armed wing of the Fatah movement. He was arrested in 2003 on charges of killing and wounding Israeli settlers.
