Pakistani tribesmen protest US drones

Tribesmen from North Waziristan’s tribal region also joined the sit-in in front of the parliament building in Islamabad, demanding the Pakistani government to end its alliance with the US in the so-called war on terror.

The tribesmen set up a camp near the parliament house.

According to US media reports, the CIA has received ordered to expand its drone attacks and target what’s been described as the rank and file of the militants.

Earlier this month, US President Barack Obama admitted to the use of spy aircraft in Pakistan’s tribal regions.

Pakistan contends the US assassination drone strikes in the northwestern tribal belt of the country near the border with Afghanistan are counterproductive.

The aerial attacks, initiated by former US President George W. Bush, have escalated under Obama and occur on an almost daily basis.

The US claims that the assassination drones are used against local militants, but locals say civilians are the main victims.
