“It is unfortunate that rulers of majority of Muslim states have become tools in the hands of Western states,” Central vice chief of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (F) Maulana Gul Naseeb Khan said.
The religious leader further regretted that Organization of Islamic Cooperation’s (OIC) failure to play a positive role to stop the bloodshed in the southeast Asian country.
Reports say 650 Rohingya Muslims were killed as of June 28 alone during clashes in the western region of Rakhine. This is while 1,200 others are missing and 80,000 more have been displaced.
Meanwhile, Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyyed Ali Khamenei on Saturday condemned the West’s silence on the ongoing violence against the Muslim community of Myanmar.
The Leader said that over the few past centuries, the Western civilization has brought nothing but corruption and exploitation to human societies.
Also, Iran’s permanent representative to the United Nations urged UN Secretary General Ban-Ki Moon to interfere promptly in efforts to bring an end to ethnic cleansing of minority Muslims in Myanmar.
The UN says decades of discrimination have left the Rohingyas stateless, with Myanmar implementing restrictions on their movement and withholding land rights, education and public services.
Myanmar government does not recognize Rohingyas Muslims and has denied citizenship to them, claiming that they are illegal migrants.
Large groups of Rohingyas have already sailed to neighboring Bangladesh, many of whom have died during the journey. Bangladeshi government, however, deports Rohingyas calling them illegal migrants and the UN refugee agency says it will not accept Rohingya Muslims as it is not interested in more refugees.
