Pakistani gunmen kill 6 in Karachi

According to Pakistani officials, the gunmen opened fire and killed two people, including a local political leader, in Orangi town area of Karachi city on Tuesday.

In another incident, two people were killed by gunmen in Baldia town and SITE’s Metrovile area of the city.

Officials also said that gunmen also killed a policeman in Gulbahar area, and that later on the day another person was killed in the Quaidabad area of the city.

Pakistani gunmen have killed dozens of people in different incidents of targeted killings in parts of Karachi city in the past few months.

Thousands of Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan joined an alliance with the United States in the so-called war against terrorism.

Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan and thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping across the country.
