Pakistani fighter jets kill 22 militants

The strikes occurred in the Upper Orakzai tribal area on early Thursday morning. The aircraft destroyed four militant hideouts during the aerial attacks.

The militants killed in the operation included Mullah Toofan, one of the commanders of the militant group known as Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan (TTP). He was wanted for his involvement in a series of attacks against the Pakistani Army in the past.

The Pakistani military has launched a series of offensives against militants in the country’s semiautonomous tribal region in the past few years.

Despite the Pakistani government’s operations against the TTP and its associated groups, they have still been able to spread their influence in various regions of the country and have killed thousands of people.

Over 35,000 Pakistanis have lost their lives in bombings and other militant attacks since 2001 when Pakistan entered an alliance with the US in Washington’s so-called ‘war on terror,’ according to local media.

Since late 2009, there has been a surge in militant attacks in Pakistan.

Thousands more have been displaced by the wave of violence and militancy sweeping the country.
