Police are looking for a group of youths involved a stabbing in Melbourne last night.

Police say an argument began at the Brighton Beach car park and escalated when two men were stabbed.

A 25-year-old Hoppers Crossing man was stabbed in the head and stomach.

His friend, a 22-year-old Altona Meadows man was stabbed in the shoulder.

The pair made their way to the Saint Kilda sea baths where emergency services were called.

Victoria Police Acting Sergeant David Morrow says it is always a concern for police and the community when people carry dangerous weapons.

Both men are in a stable condition in hospital.

Police are yet to charge anyone over the incident.
