IT’S official: Orlando Bloom has left Middle-earth.
The actor, who plays Legolas, wrapped filming of his scenes for The Hobbit: There and Back Again, the third instalment of Peter Jackson’s Hobbit trilogy.
To mark the occasion, Jackson posted a video on his Facebook page of Bloom’s final night on set.
Bloom goofily sings along to the 2007 viral hit, They Are Taking the Hobbits to Isengard, while surrounded by crew and cast members.
“A day after saying goodbye to Gandalf and Tauriel, it was time to farewell Legolas. What a great day it was, with Orlando battling a serious Orc for all 12 hours of shooting – part of the Battle of the 5 Armies for the third Hobbit movie,” the New Zealand-born director posted.
“When we finally got the day done, we said goodbye to Orlando, had a couple of beers … and couldn’t resist doing this!”
The video has racked up a whopping 4.3 million views so far.
Bloom, 36, landed the role of the flaxen-haired elf in 1999 when he was just 22 years of age.
The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey was released in December last year and took over $US1 billion at the box office worldwide.
The Desolation Of Smaug will follow in December this year, before the trilogy concludes with There And Back Again in December 2014.
