Oracle to release 88 critical fixes next week

Oracle is to roll out 88 fixes in its quarterly massive critical patch update next week.

The update, which will be released on July 17, will patch multiple flaws in Oracle products. Some of the vulnerabilities affect more than one product, Oracle said in an advisory on Thursday.

“Due to the threat posed by a successful attack, Oracle strongly recommends that customers apply critical patch update fixes as soon as possible,” the advisory said.

Oracle Fusion middleware suffers some of the most serious flaws, with the highest CVSS score of the vulnerabilities being 10. The vulnerabilities lie in components such as Enterprise Manager for Middleware console, according to the Oracle advisory.

Oracle will push out four fixes for its Database product, but only for less serious flaws. A zero-day remote-code execution flaw in Database 11g that Oracle rushed out a workaround for in April is unlikely to be fixed until the next release of the software, at an as-yet unspecified point of time in the future.

The July Oracle critical patch update will address flaws in Sun products and MySQL server, as well as vulnerabilities in products including Oracle PeopleSoft, Siebel CRM, and Backup.

Oracle rolled out 88 fixes in its last patch update in April.
