The hunt for one of the most wanted men in NSW is over with him turning himself in to police in the state’s south.
The 28-year-old man made the most wanted list earlier this month following the alleged aggravated sexual assault of a 21-year-old woman at Condobolin, central NSW, in March 2010.
The man had previously been charged with aggravated sexual assault, grievous bodily harm and perverting the course of justice.
But he fled after a Supreme Court judge released him on bail.
On Monday, he handed himself in at Albury police station and was charged in relation to the alleged aggravated sexual assault for attempting to pervert the course of justice, police said.
Police told AAP the man turned himself in due to pressure from extensive media campaigning and public appeals.
He will appear at Albury Local Court on Tuesday.
