A DRIVER is being held under police guard in hospital after allegedly ramming a police car with his ute, pushing it 150m into a freeway barrier.
The officer suffered a suspected broken arm in the incident early this morning in Melbourne’s southwest.Officers were called to the home about midnight over a domestic incident, but as they left their vehicle, heard an engine rev before a Ford 350 ute hurtled towards them.
The police car was forced 150m down the street and into a freeway sound barrier not far from the house along Epsom St, Laverton.
One of the officers suffered a suspected broken arm as the Ford smashed into the police car, and has been taken to hospital for treatment.
The man, in his 40s, was arrested and was also taken to hospital where he remains under police guard.
