Obama speaks in Iowa about the economy, Romney speaks in Pennsylvania about education, plus more to watch for Thursday in politics

President Barack Obama visits a wind energy manufacturer Thursday in Newton, Iowa, in his ongoing effort to get Congress to act on his “To Do List,” which includes a clean-energy provision.

Obama also has campaign stops scheduled in Des Moines and Palo Alto, Calif. It is worth noting that Iowa is a general election battleground state.

Mitt Romney, at least temporarily, has changed the topic from the economy to education. He visits Universal Bluford Charter School in Philadelphia, and he’s likely to continue a theme he unveiled Wednesday — “millions of (American) kids are getting a third-world education.” Pennsylvania also is a battleground state.

Also worth noting: Vice President Joe Biden attends a fundraiser in Virginia for Senate candidate Tim Kaine; Rep. Nancy Pelosi attends an Arizona Democratic Party fundraiser; and Sen. Jim DeMint, R-S.C., speaks at a Family Research Council news conference in Washington in support of marriage between one man and one woman.

And then there is this: The John Edwards jury is still deliberating. This makes day five.
