The footage shows three NYPD officers detain the protester and searched her bag before forcing her through the crowd and into police custody.
The officers were several times asked to identify themselves but refused to do so.
Law experts say plainclothes officers are required to identify themselves by name, rank and shield number on request.
There are also reports of several more arrests by plainclothes officers throughout New York City during the May Day demonstrations.
Supporters of the Wall Street movement joined unions, students and teachers across the United States on Tuesday to protest against economic inequality and political corruption.
The movement originally began when a group of demonstrators gathered in New York’s financial district on September 17, 2011 to protest against corruption, the unjust distribution of wealth in the country, and the excessive influence of big corporations on US policies.
Occupy activists called May Day their “coming out party” and the start of their spring resurgence, after the cold weather and evictions obliged many to stay home over the winter.
