A 45-year-old nurse died two days after her fifth session of cosmetic surgery in a month, a coroner heard.

Mother-of-two Susannah Bone had recently had three sessions of Botox, a lip enhancement and a high-tech treatment for facial veins, the Oxford inquest was told.

Her body was found slumped on the sofa in pyjamas at her home in Thame, Oxon, two days after the final Intense Pulsed Light treatment to remove broken facial capillaries.

Police were called to the flat after being contacted by concerned relatives who had not heard from Ms Bone, who had suffered from depression for more than 10 years.

The nurse, who took anti-depressants, had suffered from the illness since the birth of her second son Jonathan triggered post natal depression.

Her mother Jean Daish questioned
whether the cosmetic procedures had had a negative reaction with the
high dose of anti-depressants her daughter was taking.

Pathologist Dr Aron Szuts said he had been unable determine a cause of death but that there was no evidence to suggest the procedures had played a part.

Coroner for Oxfordshire Nicholas Gardiner recorded an open verdict saying the cause of Ms Bone’s death was ‘unknown’.

A distraught Mrs Daish said after the inquest: ‘She
had five beauty treatments in the month before she died. The day after
one of them she was vomiting all day for 12 hours.

‘Could she have had a reaction from the medication?

‘She was naturally beautiful. I was horrified when she told me she was having these beauty treatments.

‘She had no need to have them done but she did it to build up her self-confidence.’

The inquest heard Ms Bone, who was divorced and just saw her two children every weekend, took pride in her appearance and was looking forward to the future.

Detective Constable Richard Josie said blood had run from her nose when he inspected her body and found bloodied tissues in her bathroom.

He said she had settled in front of the TV to watch a Harry Potter DVD.

Mr Gardiner said: ‘It is difficult to say whether it was simply a natural event, hearts do sometimes stop for no reason. I have to record an open verdict.’

It is difficult to establish causality, but there are many deaths associated with the intake of certain anti depressants The Drug Companies would need to be more open.

Botox isn’t really surgery it’s just an injection?I don’t go to my GP for a flu jab and say I’ve had surgery.Anyway such a sad story!she looked to be a very pretty lady without any treatments. Also such a shame she battled with depression.I had to take anti depressants because I used to be too scared to leave the house.I’m always worried it will come back.RIP xxx

Such double standards, twice a year i go into the ‘garage’ for botox, fillers etc, i don’t consider it any different from wearing mascara. I know this is true of all my pals too, everything is relative, so if you wear make-up or color your hair you are no less ‘vain’ than the rest of us. i wonder if these procedures were free how many women would change their opnion on them?

3 lots of botox? come on, who’s fooling who? Botox is only given once, every 4-6 months, otherwise you wouldn’t be able to open your eyes.
– jilly parker, cape Town, 10/2/2012 08:33………….. absolutely spot on Jilly. It’s also not ‘cosmetic surgery’. The headline might as well have been Nurse, 45, died after being on antidepressants for over 10 years, or something else entirely unrelated.

Dont know when these photos were taken but if before she had the procedure then she was quite pretty then. Poor lass.

The headline implies that her cosmetic surgery somehow caused her death but when you read the article, that is not correct at all.

Tragic! If only we put this much effort into enhancing our minds, we may not be in the mess we are now?

What a shame!

vanity, vanity…..all is vanity!

There is always a risk of death with surgery so why go for 5 in a month. Where was the surgeon’s brain?
