NSW police to extradite murder suspect

NSW detectives will apply to extradite a man who is suspected of killing his partner at a unit block on Sydney’s northern beaches.

The 44-year-old was arrested at Brisbane Airport on Tuesday afternoon after arriving on a flight from Newcastle.

He is set to appear in a Brisbane court later on Wednesday where NSW police will seek permission to transfer him to Sydney where he is set to be charged over the death of a woman in Pitt Road, North Curl Curl.

The woman, aged in her 30s, has not been named by police but is understood to have lived at the unit where she died.

Police have previously described the death as a domestic-related incident.

Neighbours reported hearing a loud argument inside the first-floor unit on Monday night.

Police broke down the front door and found the woman suffering from critical injuries.

She died a short time later despite the efforts of paramedics.

Investigations into the case are continuing.
