Treasury figures show the average NSW hospital can expect to face a $120,000 annual carbon bill when the $23-a-tonne carbon price kicks in on July 1.
The average local public school will have to pay an extra $9000 a year on power bills, News Limited reports.
The new modelling of the carbon tax impact on government services included in Tuesday’s state budget – based on federal modelling that assumes a “cost pass through rate” of about nine per cent for electricity – shows NSW Health would have a $106 million carbon cost over the four-year forward estimates.
The education department would have a four-year liability of $77 million.
RailCorp would pay an extra $57 million over four years and State Transit would pay an extra $1 million a year to run the city’s buses, according to News Limited.
