21st Century Wire says…
Does the media like the ratings mass shootings bring to their networks? It’s a fair question, and one that needs to be given more ‘air time’ in the national debate as yet another horrific mass shooting dominates the news cycle.
This week, Dana Loesch, national spokeswoman for the National Rifle Association, unleashed a scathing critique on CNN and the mainstream media over their sensational, politicized coverage of last week’s Florida school shooting:
“Many in legacy media love mass shootings. You guys love it,” Dana Loesch said Thursday. “Now I’m not saying that you love the tragedy. But I am saying that you love the ratings. Crying white mothers are ratings gold to you and many in the legacy media in the back (of the room).”
“And notice I said ‘crying white mothers’ because there are thousands of grieving black mothers in Chicago every weekend, and you don’t see town halls for them, do you?” Loesch asked. “Where’s the CNN town hall for Chicago? Where’s the CNN town hall for sanctuary cities?”
Loesch defended her previous statements about mass shootings being “ratings gold” speaking to CNN’s “New Day” host Alisyn Camerota:
“I do think that many in the media do because they like the ratings aspect of it. And it’s true because it’s wall-to-wall coverage. They put the murderer’s face up on loop, on televisions all across America, more than they discuss the victims or survivors.”
Camerota fires back, “It’s just not true! How dare you!”
Watch the heated exchange:
Loesch then reminded Camerota that CNN has allowed many of their guests to openly present that the NRA is somehow complicit in the crime that took place in Parkland, Florida earlier this month.
On Episode #222 of the SUNDAY WIRE, we begin to dissect the bizarre media coverage in the aftermath of this latest mass shooting.
