Not Yet, produced by Majid Barzegar and the Iranian Young Cinema Society, was the only representative of Iranian cinema at the event and could win the Grand Prix at international competition section of the festival.
In a statement, the jury of the festival gave their reason to award the Iranian short; “In the humanist and realist route of a master like Abbas Kiarostami, Not yet is a portrait of a marriage on the verge of collapse, but at the same time informs the audience and the characters of the beauties they once shared with each partner.”
Earlier, Not Yet won the grand prix at the 33rd Tehran International Short Film Festival (TISFF). It also was picked as best short at the 35th Fajr International Film Festival, too.
The Busan International Short Film Festival (BISFF) was launched in 1980 as the Korean Short Film Festival. It was the first short film festival to appear in Korea.
The event has provided the opportunity to create for filmmakers under the name ‘Korea Short Film Festival’ and ‘Busan Asian Short Film Festival’ has undergone tremendous change and renewal.
BISFF aspires to aesthetics in short films and has firmly established itself as the place to discover new, talented directors.
