Florida Home Partnership Takes Its Message to Florida Legislators
Ruskin, FL (PRWEB) March 02, 2012
On February 9, 2012 members of the Florida Home Partnership (FHP) participated in Florida’s inaugural “Energize Florida: Renewable and Efficiency” expo and campaign hosted at Florida’s state capitol in Tallahassee. Eileen Burke, David Snyder and Joey Henderson, community development manager, hosted an information booth along with several alternative energy companies featuring solar, wind and renewable energy sources.
Along with several affordable housing agencies and companies specifically focused on renewable energy sources, FHP booth highlighted energy efficient and weatherization standards that are incorporated in its home-building process. The FHP booth featured photographs of self-help homeowners receiving education and hands-on training on energy-saving techniques, such as water conservation and caulking; the importance of establishing a Florida-friendly yard; and the utility savings benefit of the inclusion of Mastic Compound and Radiant Barrier Sheathing on their HVAC Ductwork connections.
Having built over 500 homes in Hillsborough and Pasco Counties, FHP Construction Coordinators help Self-Help families learn and incorporate these energy saving techniques which drastically reduce energy costs. Certified by Energy Star, Florida WaterSM Gold, and Florida Green Building Coalition, FHP is committed to saving energy and green building.
In addition to hosting a booth at the event, the FHP team and Lobbyist Mike Rogers, of Wilson and Associates, visited Florida Representative “Greg” Steube, who stepped out of a legislative session, and met with the legislative aids of Senator Rhonda Storms, Senator Jim Norman, and Representative Will Weatherford. Legislator Steube and aids were briefly made aware of the accomplishments of FHP.
