The families of two runaway teenagers are “very anxious” and police fear the lovestruck couple may be hitchhiking.
Lucas Bollard and Sophie McGregor, both aged 14, have not been heard from since Saturday.
They started going out together three months ago.
Lucas’s parents discovered a note from their son and it appears the pair have packed their bags and run away together.
“Thus far they have not contacted their parents, nor us,” Inspector Chris Schilt told AAP on Wednesday morning.
“It is definitely out of character.”
He said police believed the teenagers were heading to the Blue Mountains or Lithgow, west of Sydney, but have been investigating claimed sightings across the city.
The teens may be hitchhiking, he said, adding that their parents were very anxious to hear from anyone who may have seen them.
Lucas Bollard is described as caucasian in appearance, about 183cm tall and slim with short brown hair and brown eyes.
Sophie McGregor is described as caucasian in appearance, about 152cm tall with a slim build, green eyes and shoulder length black dyed hair.
She was also carrying a green computer bag with a tree motif on the front.
Anyone with information about the couple’s whereabouts is urged to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
