No quick verdict in Rutgers webcam spying case

NEW BRUNSWICK, N.J. (AP) — There’s no quick verdict in the hate-crime trial of a former Rutgers University student accused of using a webcam to spy on the romantic encounter of his gay roommate, who committed suicide days later.

The jury went home for the day Wednesday afternoon after about four hours of deliberations.

They got the case Wednesday morning.

Dharun Ravi (dah-ROON’ RAH’-vee) faces 15 criminal counts including bias intimidation and invasion of privacy.

His roommate, Tyler Clementi, killed himself in September 2010, just days after the alleged spying.

The jury is due back in court Thursday morning.
