EUTHANASIA advocate Philip Nitschke will be contesting for a seat in the ACT.


Nitschke will be running as a candidate for the recently registered Voluntary Euthanasia Party, the ABC reports.

The party announced three candidates for the Federal Election today.

Members will contest seats across the capital, New South Wales and the Northern Territory.

The party will be announcing candidates for South Australia and Western Australia in the coming days.

Dr Nitschke will be standing for the ACT Senate and said the party hadn’t ruled out running candidates for the House of Representatives.

Dr Nitschke has been lobbying for voluntary euthanasia law reform for the past 15 years.

Euthanasia advocate Shayne Higson will stand for the party in New South Wales.

Terminally ill cancer patient Martin Burgess has announced his candidacy for the Darwin-based seat of Solomon.
