A bomb explosion left six people dead and 52 others wounded in the main market in al-Husseiniyah on Baghdad’s northeast outskirts on Friday.
Elsewhere in south Baghdad, gunmen shot dead three policemen in Bayaa.
Official figures show that at least 157 people have died in attacks in Iraq since June 13 — more than were killed during the entire month of May.
On Monday, at least 22 people were killed and 50 others were wounded in a bomb attack that targeted a funeral gathering in northern city of Baqouba.
Violence has risen in Iraq since December 2011, when an arrest warrant was issued for fugitive Vice President Tariq al-Hashemi for running a death squad that targeted Iraqi authorities and Shia pilgrims.
