He’s one of the greatest quarterbacks in the history of the NFL, and has become a distinguished analyst for CBS Sports.

Unfortunately, Dan Marino’s squeaky clean reputation took a pounding Thursday when the New York Post revealed that he had a love child with a CBS employee back in 2005.

Her name is Donna Savattere, and she was a a production assistant at CBS Sports’s Manhattan studio. At the time, she was 35.

According to the Post, she gave birth to their daughter Chloe in June 2005.

A source told the Post, “They had an affair, and she had a baby. Everything was on the down-low and secretive.”

On Wednesday, Marino admitted the affair in a written statement to the Post.

“This is a personal and private matter. I take full responsibility both personally and financially for my actions now as I did then,” he said. “We mutually agreed to keep our arrangement private to protect all parties involved.”

When Marino and Savattere met, he was married to long-time wife Claire. They have six children.

Ironically, Chloe’s birth came about two months before Marino was inducted into the NFL Hall of Fame.

According to the Post, Marino has paid Savattere millions to care for their child, and Chloe’s existence hasn’t impacted his marriage in any way.

“My wife and I have been married for almost 30 years and have six children together,” Marino told the Post. “And we continue to be a strong and loving family.”

The Post’s revelations come days before Marino is set to participate in CBS’s big Super Bowl broadcast this Sunday.

Should make for some awkward conversation.
