A rabbi who was accused of murder has been found guilty, prosecutors in New York said.

Brooklyn Rabbi Victor Koltun was found guilty of three counts of first-degree murder, two counts of conspiracy to commit murder and one count of felony weapons possession in the shooting death of Francis and Gerald Piscopo.

The bodies of Gerald, 28, and Francis, 49, were found shot execution-style in a vacant property.

Francis Piscopo had been aggressively trying to collect a debt from 44-year-old Koltun. However, Koltun decided to kill the victims rather than paying his debt.

Koltun now faces a sentence of life in prison without the possibility of parole when he is sentenced next month.
