Netanyahu and Ethnic Cleansing

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s claim that anyone who opposes the illegal Jewish colonization of the Palestinian West Bank supports the “ethnic cleansing of Jews” marks an unprecedented new low in Jewish hypocrisy.

In fact, Palestinians have been subjected to decades of ethnic cleansing by Jews, and in the last year, the Israeli government has debated 72 laws aimed at expelling Palestinians from Israel.

In his video, released last week, Netanyahu said critics of Israel’s settlement expansion in the West Bank are advocating the “ethnic cleansing” of Jews.

His argument was that because Israel has nearly two million Arabs living inside its borders, Palestinians should tolerate Jews living in their midst.

“Yet the Palestinian leadership actually demands a Palestinian state with one precondition: no Jews,” Netanyahu said. “There’s a phrase for that. It’s called ethnic cleansing.”

(The claim that a Palestinian state would forbid Jews is yet another lie—it is a distortion of what Palestinian Authority president Mahmoud Abbas said in 2013, namely that a Palestinian state would not allow illegal Jewish settlements in its territory—Abbas said nothing about barring Jews per se.)

Netanyahu’s lies continued: in his video, he went on to say that he had “always been perplexed” that critics viewed the illegal Jewish settlements on Palestinian land as an “obstacle to peace.”

In reality, the Israeli government has allowed and even subsidized more than 100 illegal Jewish settlements in the West Bank—land which is indisputably Palestinian territory.

Some 400,000 Jews already live in these settlements, and effectively control 42 percent of the West Bank’s territory.

Understandably, the Palestinian Authority has demanded a halt to settlement construction as a condition to resuming peace talks—and it is the height of chutzpah for Netanyahu to claim that the mass colonization of the West Bank is not an “obstacle to peace.”

Built on land expropriated from the Palestinians, the land theft has been condemned by the United Nations twice, but each time final resolutions condemning Israel for the theft were vetoed by its U.S. government puppet regime. In October 2014, Benjamin Netanyahu personally authorized the building of an additional 400 houses in the settlement, paid for by the Israeli government. The U.S. government gives Israel in excess of $3.1 billion in “aid” each year.

However, as pointed out by Professor As’ad Abdul Rahman, a veteran Palestinian activist, former representative of the President of the Palestinian National Authority, and sitting chairman of the Palestinian Encyclopaedia, the current Israeli Knesset (parliament) has “proved [to be] the most racist [ever] with [an] unprecedented [number of] laws aimed at the exclusion of Palestinians (including those who are Israeli citizens).”

Writing in Gulf News, Professor Rahman said that since March 2015, the Knesset has debated 72 draft laws targeting Palestinians’ presence on their land.

Currently, 22 of them are under discussion, eight others were passed, six were approved in the first reading, while eight have been introduced for debate.

“Three of the laws passed approved forced feeding of prisoners on hunger strike, tougher penalties of up to 20 years in prison against minor Palestinians who throw stones at Israeli soldiers, and exempting police of recording interrogations of detainees. Another bill allowed detention of ‘convicted’ Palestinian children as young as 12 years and transferring them to jail at the age of 14,” Professor Rahman said.

“A law approved in the first reading drew a line between incitement of terrorism and that of violence, which aimed at separating popular Palestinian resistance from acts of terrorism committed by Jewish colonists in a bid to ease their impact, as well as any judicial procedure.

“Another draft law would impose large financial penalties on social networks if they reject Israeli government’s requests to remove publications that the Zionist state may deem as incitement to terrorism.

“Other draft laws listed for debate include ten on annexation of the West Bank to the so-called Israeli sovereignty, with drafts dealing separately with each of its regions.

“A bill proposal on ‘Israel, the nation state of the Jewish people’ (nationality law) has not been voted due to differences between the members of the Israeli government coalition on internal issues, such as the relation between religion and the state and the definition of a Jew.”

Furthermore, he said, two other draft laws deal with a proposal to ban adaan (the Muslim call for prayer) from minarets and permitting Jews to pray at the famous Al Haram Al Sharif (also called the Temple Mount), the site of the al-Aqsa Mosque, which is the third holiest site in Islam.

* All racial realists would support the right of Jews to a homeland, because that is the same right which the Palestinians ask—and which is also the right of all people on earth, including the Europeans.

It is not the concept of a Jewish homeland that objective racial realists have a problem with: the real issue is that the Jews demand such a homeland for themselves, and then threaten, insult, and actively conspire against anyone else wanting this same right, be they Palestinians or Europeans.
