(NaturalNews) The naming of our newborn baby donkey is complete! We reviewed hundreds of suggestions from Natural News readers and decided on one of the most popular names that was suggested: Hosanna!
You might notice this sounds like a girl’s name. After all, it contains the name “Anna” inside “Hosanna.” And you’re right! It turns out that our baby donkey is a girl after all, not a boy.
I was gender confused. My apologies. I’m so gender confused, in fact, that for a moment I was thinking we should name the donkey “Caitlyn” and enter it to win the “Woman of the Year” award from Glamour Magazine, which is currently being awarded to a biological male who has a penis. In a total insult to real women everywhere, Glamour Magazine thinks men are better at being women than women are. That’s what happens when P.C. goes so totally bizarre that the laws of social conformity overcome the laws of biological reality.
Nevertheless, Hosanna is a girl and now her name is Hosanna.
What does Hosanna mean? I had to get educated on all this because I’m not a Bible scholar of any kind.
The two donkeys we rescued from the fires of 2011, it turns out, are so-called “Jesus donkeys” because they have a black cross on their back. Throughout the Bible, donkeys appear numerous times, and Jesus rode a donkey through the gates of Jerusalem in a highly dramatic moment from Biblical history. “They shout Hosanna! Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” says Bible Gateway:
Jesus responds by finding a young donkey to sit on (v. 14), thereby making a mess of the picture they were creating. He should have found a horse to ride on or made use of some other symbol of power. Instead he paints from a different palette. His action undercuts their nationalism and points in a different direction, evoking an image from the Prophets: Do not be afraid, O Daughter of Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt (v. 15; from Zech 9:9). He is indeed king, but not the sort of king they have in mind.
In other words, Jesus was an anti-establishment figure who wasn’t afraid to expose the lunacy of those who worship material things and adorn themselves with expensive forms of transportation. Sounds like the kind of person I admire! In a world where so many people are driven by symbols of wealth and glamour, I live a non-glamorous life doing things like taking care of baby donkeys and repairing tractors while covered with rain and mud. Personally, I despise people who are driven by superficial symbols of wealth, and I also despise the entire phenomenon of face social media theater where people try to out-do each other with staged pictures of luxury items or vacation destinations. (Note to those people: Your life is FAKE. Get a real life.)
In any case, Hosanna is both a word of praise and also a call to be saved. Given that she was born to “Jesus donkeys,” I think this name fits wonderfully.
By the way, coyotes have not been a problem at all. The real challenge has been the cold rains that have recently inundated Texas.
Last night I was up until 2 am warming Hosanna’s fur with a hair dryer. Her momma had them all standing out in the rain, with no shelter at all (even though it was readily available). After a particularly torrential downpour, I went outside to check on Hosanna and found her shivering and drenched.
So I picked her up (she’s still small enough to carry) and brought her to the barn. There, I toweled off her fur and started drying her with a hair dryer. At first, she resisted and tried to bolt because of the sound, but I held her in place and kept it on her. Within about a minute, she relaxed at the comforting warmth of the dryer, and I had her almost fully dry in about 30 minutes. (She now LOVES the hair dryer and can’t get enough!)
Today, momma has finally discovered the shelter of the barn, and the whole family is dry and sheltered even though the rain continues. We’ve had about 12 inches of rain in 36 hours and everything is flooded. But at least Hosanna is no longer shivering!
She’s feeding well and I’ve seen her frolicking and running around playfully on several occasions. Everything’s on track! I’ll keep an eye on her and let you know how she progresses.

In late 2013, Adams launched the Natural News Forensic Food Lab, where he conducts atomic spectroscopy research into food contaminants using high-end ICP-MS instrumentation. With this research, Adams has made numerous food safety breakthroughs such as revealing rice protein products imported from Asia to be contaminated with toxic heavy metals like lead, cadmium and tungsten. Adams was the first food science researcher to document high levels of tungsten in superfoods. He also discovered over 11 ppm lead in imported mangosteen powder, and led an industry-wide voluntary agreement to limit heavy metals in rice protein products to low levels by July 1, 2015.
In addition to his lab work, Adams is also the (non-paid) executive director of the non-profit Consumer Wellness Center (CWC), an organization that redirects 100% of its donations receipts to grant programs that teach children and women how to grow their own food or vastly improve their nutrition. Using his technical experience combined with his love for natural health, Adams developed and deployed the content management system currently driving NaturalNews.com. He also engineered the high-level statistical algorithms that power SCIENCE.naturalnews.com, a massive research resource now featuring over 10 million scientific studies.
Adams is well known for his incredibly popular consumer activism video blowing the lid on fake blueberries used throughout the food supply. He has also exposed “strange fibers” found in Chicken McNuggets, fake academic credentials of so-called health “gurus,” dangerous “detox” products imported as battery acid and sold for oral consumption, fake acai berry scams, the California raw milk raids, the vaccine research fraud revealed by industry whistleblowers and many other topics.
Adams has also helped defend the rights of home gardeners and protect the medical freedom rights of parents. Adams is widely recognized to have made a remarkable global impact on issues like GMOs, vaccines, nutrition therapies, human consciousness.
In addition to his activism, Adams is an accomplished musician who has released ten popular songs covering a variety of activism topics.
