NATO Secretary-General Anders Fogh Rasmussen has paid tribute to Australia’s military contribution by laying a wreath at the Australian War Memorial.
On a cool and cloudy Canberra morning, Mr Rasmussen placed the wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier.
He was accompanied by Defence Minister Stephen Smith and Australia’s ambassador to NATO, Brendan Nelson.
Mr Rasmussen said he was laying the wreath as a sign of his deepest gratitude for the determination of Australia’s soldiers.
