N. Ireland police arrest terror suspect

The PSNI said in a statement that they have arrested the suspect in Coalisland, Co Tyrone, and have taken him to Antrim serious crime suite for questioning, the daily Belfast Telegraph reported.

“Detectives from serious crime branch have arrested a 32-year-old man in the Coalisland area in relation to terrorism and serious crime”, said a PSNI spokeswoman.

The news of the arrest came after another PSNI statement reported that a man in his 20s has been shot dead at his home in Co Donegal.

The victim was originally from the Waterside area of Londonderry but had moved over the border to Buncrana where he was gunned down, the statement said.

The shooting took place at a house at the Links View estate after 9 p.m. on Thursday.

Raymond McCartney, Sinn Fein Stormont Assembly member for Foyle, condemned the murder.

“There is shock in the community on hearing the news of the murder of this young man in Buncrana,” he said.

“His life has now been cut short and a family has now been plunged into grief and despair”, McCartney added.

“People north and south have rejected these actions; they need to stop immediately”, he said.
