GERARD Baden-Clay is expected to be charged with the murder of his wife Allison Baden-Clay.

Detectives brought Mr Baden-Clay, 41, to Indooroopilly police station this afternoon.

Mr Baden-Clay’s lawyer Darren Mahoney confirmed his client would be charged with murder at a press conference at Indooroopilly police station.

“Police have indicated the intention to charge my client with murder,” Mr Mahony said.

“He’s devastated.”

Mr Mahony said it was Baden-Clay’s intention to “defend the charge vigorously”.

When asked when the dad-of-three expected to be charged, Mr Mahony said “tonight”, reported The Courier-Mail.

His statement came just minutes after senior investigators Brian Wilkins, the head of homicide, and Mark Ainsworth, the top cop in charge of the drawn-out investigation, left the police station.

Detectives have spoken to Mr Baden-Clay, 41, in the past.

Mrs Baden-Clay was reported missing from her Brookfield home on April 20 after she failed to return from a walk.

The mother-of-three’s disappearance sparked a massive hunt involving hundreds of police and SES personnel.

Her body was found on the banks of the Kholo Creek at Anstead 10 days later.

Hundreds of mourners turned out for her funeral on May 11.
