Murder charges over house brawl death

A man has been charged with murder following a fight at a Melbourne home in which a 34-year-old man died.

The dead man was one of five people injured at the home in Ashwood about 4.20am on Thursday. He died at The Alfred hospital early yesterday.

A 28-year-old man from Ashwood was charged today with one count of murder and three of intentionally causing serious injury.

He faced an out-of-sessions hearing this afternoon and was remanded in custody.

He will appear at the Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday.

A 38-year-old woman was also taken to hospital after the incident and is expected to be interviewed by police at a later date.

A 15-year-old boy and a three-year-old boy also received minor injuries in Thursday’s altercation.
