The death of a motorcyclist northwest of Sydney has taken the NSW Christmas holiday road toll to 18.
A 32-year-old man riding a Harley-Davidson died on Monday afternoon after he collided with a Holden Commodore travelling in the opposite direction along Wisemans Ferry Road near Gunderman, on the northern side of the Hawkesbury River.
He was thrown from the bike on impact, striking the bonnet of the car before hitting the roadside, following the accident shortly after 2pm (AEDT).
Bystanders gave first aid to the injured man until ambulance paramedics arrived but he died a short time later.
The national Christmas holiday road toll period ends at the close of Tuesday.
