Speaking on condition of anonymity, an Algerian army official said on Friday that a shell fired from a homemade rocket-launcher hit the vehicle in the northern province of Boumerdes, killing the two in the front seats and injuring the other two officers in the back seats, the Associated Press reported.
The army personnel were driving a civilian car when the attack occurred.
Despite a remarkable improvement in the security situation in the North African country, Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb (AQIM) militants and Algerian security forces often engage in battles in some northern provinces.
