More boats arrive as quarrel continues

The federal opposition has used the arrival of yet another boat with asylum seekers to repeat its attack on the government’s handling of the boat issue.

Opposition immigration spokesman Scott Morrison says yesterday’s arrival of a boat carrying 38 people is the 15th in as many days.

The Australian Customs and Border Protection says the vessel was intercepted near Scott Reef off the Western Australian coast and the people on it are being taken to Christmas Island.

Immigration Minister Chris Bowen has recently said the opposition is to blame because it refuses to support the government’s offshore processing legislation.
