Guma Aquiar, the missing Floridian millionaire whose boat washed ashore in Fort Lauderdale last month without him aboard, may have jumped onto another vessel in the Atlantic Ocean, according to marine experts who spoke with ABC News.

“You can easily say he keeps working northeast towards whatever he’s looking for, sees it at the top of the triangle, goes to it, steps off the boat quickly, doesn’t even turn the engine off and lets it go,” said Nathan Spaulding, a marine surveyor with 4 decades of experience who reviewed Coast Guard data linked to Aguiar’s disappearance. “It takes half a second to jump off another boat.”

Aguiar, who was born in Brazil and recently split his time living in the United States and Israel, donated millions to Jewish and Israeli charities following the sale of an energy company he co-founded in Texas.  Since his disappearance in June, Aguiar’s mother and wife have been locked in a bitter legal dispute over family assets.

Along with Spaulding, another marine expert with 40 years of experience in the field, Henry Pickergill, spoke with ABC News.com about Aguiar’s mysterious disappearance.

“The pattern is very identifiable. It just sort of fits as a scenario,” boat expert Henry Pickersgill told ABCNews.com. “There appears to be a pattern in the vessel’s track, speed, longitude and latitude to indicate that it may have stopped briefly for enough time for Mr. Aguiar to have transferred to another vessel.”
