Missing diver’s scuba gear found

Police searching for a missing Victorian diver have found scuba gear but have yet to determine if it belongs to the woman who disappeared on Saturday afternoon.

The gear was found on the third day of the search for the missing 42-year-old.

The air tank, camera and buoyancy equipment was found at the site where she was last seen.

The equipment was recovered about 2.30pm.

Search teams went out at first light again this morning, scouring the shoreline off the Bellarine Peninsula.

She was diving at a popular spot off Point Lonsdale, known as ‘Ships Graveyard,’ when she became separated from her diving partner and failed to surface.

She was an experienced diver and had visited the area several times before.

Police say a health problem or diver error could explain her disappearance.

The search will continue tomorrow.
