Guma Aguiar, the Brazilian born millionaire who lives primarily in the United States and Israel, and who purchased the Israeli soccer club Hapoel Jerusalem FC in 2005, is missing in Florida.

Aguiar’s boat washed up on shore in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, early Wednesday morning, upside down and with the engine still running.  According to local media reports in the Florida area, Aguiar’s wife thought he was in their home office upon her return to the couple’s residence on Tuesday night, but an employee of the family notified her that Aguiar had taken his boat out around 7:30 pm.

The U.S. Coast Guard is working with local authorities in their search for Aguiar, which is spanning at least 3 miles offshore from where his vessel, the T.T. Zion was found.

Having made his fortune in oil and gas interests, Aguiar is an active philanthropist, having donated millions of dollars to Jewish and Israeli charities.

WPTV in Florida reports that the T.T. Zion is a tender for Aguiar’s yacht, named Zion.
