Barack Obama really didn’t introduce his wife to the Twitterverse this morning, his campaign staffers did. In fact, she hasn’t even tweeted yet. According to the bio on @Michelleobama’s, “This account is run by #Obama2012 campaign staff. Tweets from the First Lady are signed -mo.” Barack sports a similar one on his Twitter account. And when you think about it, the interactions between the two on the Twitterverse run the chance of becoming sort of weird since the two accounts might just be two (possibly more or possibly less) campaign staffers talking to each other while using President Obama and the first lady as their Twitter puppets. Notice there’s no “-bo” signature here.
It’s not every day we get to welcome the First Lady of the United States to Twitter—happy to have you, @MichelleObama!

Nor is there an “-mo” signature here (not that there should be).
This account will be managed by campaign staff, with any tweets from the First Lady herself signed “-mo.”

Like we said, the lack of Michelle Obama’s personal tweets probably won’t make a big difference. She has over 3,100 followers already (campaign staffers sent out her first tweet at 8:00 a.m.). And of course, we’re going to start following her campaign staffers her.
