Michaela McAreveay murder acquittals: police failures

– Four fingerprints found in the room were never traced to anyone.

– Mrs McAreavey’s purse, which Mr Treebhoowoon claimed in his confession –
later retracted – he had been rifling through before she walked in, never
tested for fingerprints.

– One hotel guest who left the night Mrs McAreavey was murdered was never
traced; a German couple who wanted to speak to police about what they saw
around the time of the murder were never interviewed.

– CCTV footage which defence claimed showed Mr and Mrs McAreavey arguing
around the time of her murder turned out to show a
German couple who say police never interviewed them
