‘MI6, CIA spying for Syrian rebels’

The revelation adds a new dimension to the extent of British intervention in Syria and the falsehood of London’s claims of seeking a “peaceful transition” in the country.

According to the reports, the gathered data through satellite eavesdropping is handed to Syrian rebels by agents of British and American spy agencies, MI6 and CIA, deployed in Syria.

“The [Syrian president Bashar] Assad generals giving orders can be pinpointed within yards and identified by voice recognition techniques,” the Daily Star quoted a British defense source as saying.

The disclosure sheds further light on the purpose of the camps the paper earlier reported to have been set up by Britain’s Special Air Force (SAS) and MI6 in Syria.

Last week, British Foreign Secretary William Hague told a news conference in the Pakistani capital of Islamabad that London supports a “peaceful transition [of power] in Syria.”

However, the new revelation not only contradicts such claims, it also raises speculations that London may be leading a low-level secret warfare in Syria through feeding terror networks to wage civil war and set the stage for a foreign intervention.

The speculations are especially strong as he had earlier pledged that Britain “would be greatly increasing further support” to Syrian rebels and warned Damascus that the military option remains on the table for Syria.
