The online dictionary Merriam-Webster announced its word of the year for 2017. Everybody put on your pink pussy hats of the resistance: the word is feminism.
2017 saw both a sustained rise in ‘feminism’ lookups and a number of event-driven spikes.

It gets worse when Merriam-Webster defines feminism:
1: the theory of the political, economic, and social equality of the sexes
2: organized activity on behalf of womens rights and interests
Sounds nice, if only those things were what the movement was all about. However, we know better; modern feminism is raging, conservative white male-hating leftism, and thats putting it mildly.
Peter Sokolowski, Merriam-Websters editor-at-large, said, No one word can encapsulate all the news, events, or stories of a given year [but] when we look back at the past twelve months and combine an analysis of words that have been looked up much more frequently than during the previous year, along with instances of intense spikes of interest because of news events, we see that one word stands out in both categories.”
After President Trumps inauguration and the subsequent Womens March on D.C., everyone was online searching for the meaning of feminism. In a video by USA Todaycovering the word of the year, it points out another spike after Trump advisor Kellyanne Conway questioned if she calls herself a feminist in the classic sense or not. She defined it much differently than the official dictionary: feminism is very anti-male and it certainly is very pro-abortion.
Another spike occurred after the premieres of Hulus The Handmaids Tale and DC Comics Wonder Woman film.
Also the #MeToo movement was acknowledged in the USA Today video, which ends with a quote from a woman who has accused Trump of sexual assault.
He jumped all over me, Jessica Leeds says.
They just thought you should know that being a feminist means believing every woman no matter what… unless she’s a conservative, of course.
