Men face extradition to WA over bashing

Four men will be extradited to Western Australia over the severe beating and burning of a man who was left for dead in a Perth park late last year.

Gary Visanich, 43, remains in a critical condition at Royal Perth Hospital almost two months after he was bashed at Centenary Park, in the southern suburb of Wilson.

Joggers found him with serious cuts and burns near a rubbish bin cage on the morning of November 23.

After a joint investigation by the West Australian and NSW police, four men were arrested in Sydney on Tuesday.

They appeared in Parramatta Local Court on Wednesday, charged with inflicting grievous bodily harm and kidnapping under Western Australian arrest warrants.

Bail was refused, with the case adjourned to the Magistrate Court in Perth on January 17.

Three of the men were simultaneously apprehended in the outer western suburbs of Fairfield East, Londonderry and Bidwill shortly before 7am (AEDT) on Tuesday.

The fourth man was arrested at Balmain, in Sydney’s inner west, during the afternoon.
