POLICE have charged two men with conspiracy to kill standover man Michael McGurk.

Police have revealed that there were two alleged plots to murder standover man Michael McGurk, The Daily Telegraph reported.

Two brothers were this morning arrested and charged over the alleged conspiracy to kill McGurk in mid-2009 which failed.

Five other men including multi-millionaire property developer Ron Medich are already before the courts charged over the second unrelated conspiracy.

The charges were laid after McGurk, 45, was gunned down outside his Cremorne home on September 3, 2009.

The brothers have been charged with plotting together with one other man.

The first man was arrested at his workplace at 11.20am today. He appeared before Bankstown Local Court this afternoon when he was refused bail and remanded in custody to appear in Central Local Court on January 31.

His brother was also arrested at work and was taken to Sutherland Police Station where he was refused bail to appear in Sutherland Local Court tomorrow morning.

They were arrested by officers with Strike Force Narrunga, which is investigating the murder.

“It is a complex investigation. It has been from the beginning,” Detective Superintendent Willing said.

He would not comment on whether the strike force expected to make any more arrests.
