Sunday trains are better than they have ever been in Melbourne as Metro delivers its second consecutive month of 90 per cent punctuality.
Metro spokeswoman Leah Waymark said on the past four Sundays, Metro has exceeded the single-day record for punctuality in the history is this train network, despite a significant increase in patronage.
“We’re consistently running more than 98 per cent of weekend trains on-time and that’s good for those heading out to the footy or for a day out,” Ms Waymark said.
More than 90 per cent (90.67 per cent) of Metro trains ran on time in May, according to Metro’s audit, and 98.59 per cent of services were delivered.
To meet performance threshold, 88 per cent of Metro trains must arrive within four minutes and 59 seconds of their scheduled time.
Ms Waymark said the figures were particularly pleasing given a new timetable had been introduced, adding 283 extra weekend services.
