Melbourne siege ends

A siege in Melbourne’s southeast has come to an abrupt end after a police robot revealed the wanted man convulsing on the floor.

Police had attempted to arrest the man, 36, on Tuesday afternoon as he walked his dog but he ran into a factory in Miles Grove, Seaford, in Melbourne’s southeast and refused to give himself up.

He was wanted for serious assault and firearm offences.

The siege began just before 3pm (AEDT) and was over by six hours later after he was found writhing on the floor.

He was treated by paramedics and taken to Frankston hospital in a stable condition.

About a dozen police, including members of the Special Operations Group, were involved in the siege.
