Could Opposition Leader Tony Abbott have also made a contribution to Zodiac Mindwarp? An error on his Facebook page that lists him on music streaming service Spotify go us thinking.

IT’S the creative side of Tony Abbott you never knew about: his 30 year stint as a BAFTA winning film and television production designer, and his career as a modern recording artist. At least, that’s what he tells his Facebook fans.

A quirky error on the Opposition Leader’s official Facebook page, which is followed by almost 30,000 people, lists him as being on both movie website IMDB.com and music streaming service Spotify.

Alongside links to TonyAbbott.com.au and the national Liberals website in the “About” section is a link to an IMDB profile for UK production designer Tony Abbott, who worked on such programs as The Benny Hill Show and Morcambe and Wise from 1957 to 1987 and won a BAFTA in 1970 for his work on a BBC series starring Brian Blessed.

Unfortunately for fans of the real designer, the page lists 25 news articles dating back to 2010 – all of which are about the Australian Opposition Leader.

Mr Abbott’s Facebook page also curiously links to a blank Spotify artist profile for “Tony Abbott”, which has been “liked” by three people. Sadly, no songs are listed under his “Top Tracks”, and the web link does nothing when opened in the Spotify music playing software.

A spokesperson for Spotify was puzzled by the listing, which is reserved for official recording artists, putting it down to a technical glitch.

Mr Abbott has been contacted for comment.

Perhaps channelling his inner Alice Cooper, could one look from Mr Abbott prove deadly for the likes of Bob Katter or will he simply refuse to touch electoral poison?

We’re not sure if Tony has a friend he calls darkness, but in the lead up to September 14 we’ll be hearing plenty about that vision softly creeping, you know the one, it left its seeds while he was sleeping.

While the conservative Abbott has probably never shouted the words “if you want to do it, do it right”- we’re pretty sure he’ll be borrowing lines from this Wham classic when he tells female voters in the lead up to the election that he’s the one who understands.

Not sure how Tony Abbott would have gone as a member of Black Sabbath? We’re pretty sure the iron man of politics is a fan of that Sabbath hit- not that he’s lost his mind- but he may yet consider himself the future of mankind.

In the lead up to September’s election chances are Tony will be spending more than a few hours laying it all at the electorate’s feet and telling us what he really was made for.
