Mayor: 2 shot at Conn. hospital, suspect arrested

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. (AP) — Authorities say two people have been shot at a Connecticut rehabilitation hospital and someone is in custody.

New Britain Mayor Timothy O’Brien said Wednesday night in an interview with NBC30 television a suspect has been arrested and is believed to be a hospital employee. He says he doesn’t know the conditions of the people who were shot.

The shootings took place at the Hospital for Special Care, a private nonprofit facility specializing in rehabilitation and long-term acute care.

The Hartford Courant reports police say a suspect was arrested outside a home about a mile away.

A hospital spokeswoman says she doesn’t have details. A New Britain police dispatcher says no one is available to comment.
