A McDonald’s restaurant in Sydney’s west has been robbed overnight in a second raid on the fast food outlet in less than a week.

A man wearing a black mask ran up to a drive-through window at the restaurant on Woodville Road at Merrylands shortly before 11:30pm (AEST).

He pointed a shortened double-barrelled shotgun at the 21-year-old staff member and demanded cash before helping himself to the till and running away.

Acting Inspector Sue Goddard says there were witnesses to the robbery.

“A motorist who was stopped in the drive-through called triple-0 and police attended the scene minutes later,” Inspector Goddard said.

Forensic officers specialising in armed robbery examined the scene last night.

Inspector Goddard says the drive-through was also targeted on Wednesday last week.

“We had a similar incident that occurred at the same location on the 14th of September, a similar weapon was used in that incident as well,” she said.
