Olympiacos’ Brazilian football player Marcelos is officially the top Influencer who permanently resides in Greece thanks to his Instagram that has tens of millions of followers.
The new Olympiacos player was officially presented to the team’s fans inside the “G. Karaiskakis Stadium” and now everyone in the red and white camp is waiting to see him on the field.
Until then, however, Marcelo has succeeded exceptionally well in the area of communication. After all, he is also terrible in business, while he also has a huge account on Instagram, which he uses both to upload his personal moments and professional successes.
@marcelotwelve has more than 58 million followers. In other words, five times the population of Greece.
It is not an exaggeration to say, therefore, that Marcelo also brings great “Instagram power” with him to Greece.
The Brazilian footballer’s account is also the largest that a permanent resident of Greece has.
All other Greek influencers reach “only” 1,000,000 followers. At the same time, Marcelo’s Instagram account is 100 times larger than that of Olympiacos (576,000 followers), while he is also one of the leaders in football, having more followers than other stars such as Mohamed Salah (52.7 million followers) and Zlatan Ibrahimovic (55.4 million followers).
Thus, whatever Marcelo uploads for the next months to his account from Greece or Olympiacos will immediately “reach” tens of millions of people around the world, constituting the best advertisement for the club.
The left-back brought the curtain down on a 16-season stay at the Santiago Bernabeu this summer, opting not to sign a new contract in the Spanish capital.
He has been linked with moves all over Europe since departing Real Madrid, and was it had been reported that he was in talks with Premier League side Leicester City on deadline day, but the Foxes denied such a deal was in the works.
Olympiacos confirmed the signing of Marcelo on Friday night, with the Brazilian signing an initial one-year deal with the option for a further 12 months.
The Greek champions’ owner, Evangelos Marinakis, is also in charge at Nottingham Forest, who have overseen one of the busiest transfer windows in recent memory.
Forest signed Hwang Ui-jo and Josh Bowler this summer, but both were immediately loaned to Olympiacos.
