The man accused of murdering missing Perth millionaire Craig Puddy has elected not to give evidence at his Supreme Court trial.

Cameron Mansell is alleged to have bludgeoned Mr Puddy with a blunt object at his Mt Pleasant home in May last year.

Mr Puddy’s body has not been found.

Cameron Mansell was the manager of a bar in Nedlands which was part-owned by Mr Puddy.

He had been questioned by Mr Puddy about missing money in the weeks before he disappeared.

Today, Mr Mansell’s lawyer said his client was going to rely on his right to silence and not testify.

The defence did call one witness; an employee of the weather bureau who testified about rainfall in an area of bushland where a wheelie bin was found that contained Mr Puddy’s blood.

Over the seven week trial, the court has heard that following the businessman’s disappearance, Cameron Mansell fled to Queensland and stayed with his aunt and uncle who gave evidence.

Allan Mansell testified his nephew told him three intruders had bashed Mr Puddy.

He said his nephew claimed the men forced him to put his hands in the blood and touch things around the house.

He told the court Cameron Mansell told him that the last time he saw Mr Puddy he was alive but only barely.

Narelle Mansell said her nephew told her there was a vicious and bloody fight at the house.

She testified Cameron Mansell claimed he was forced to clean the scene and he then burnt his car because it had blood from himself and Mr Puddy in it.

In his closing address, the prosecutor has described as inconsistent and ludicrous Mr Mansell’s claims that Mr Puddy had been bashed by three men over a drug debt.
